1. Who we are
Storkie is a baby-activity tracking application. Parents and legal guardians (“you”) use Storkie to log day-to-day activities for their own children — sleep, feeding, diaper changes, growth measurements, medicine, and similar care events — and optionally share that information with caregivers they invite.
In this policy, “we,” “us,” and “Storkie” refer to the operators of the Storkie application. References to a “child” mean a child whose activities a Storkie account holder has chosen to log.
2. What we collect
We collect only what is necessary to operate the app and provide the features described here.
Account information
- Email address, name, and authentication identifiers managed by our authentication provider (Clerk).
- Account preferences (theme, units, notification choices).
Child profile information
- Child's display name and birthdate.
- Activity logs you create — sleep periods, nursing and bottle feeds, diaper changes, solids, pumping sessions, medicine doses, temperature readings, growth measurements, and free-form activity notes.
- Optional photos you choose to attach to an activity entry.
Sharing relationships
- Email addresses of caregivers you invite, and the access level you grant them.
AI feature inputs
- Voice recordings you submit through voice-to-activity logging, which are transcribed via OpenAI's Whisper API.
- Text prompts and conversational turns you submit to Ask Storkie, our in-app assistant.
- Activity data retrieved by AI tools to answer your questions (e.g. recent sleep history when asking about nap patterns).
Operational data
- Error reports and performance traces collected by Sentry to help us diagnose crashes and bugs.
- Standard server logs (IP address, request timing, user agent) generated by our hosting provider.
We do not knowingly collect more than this. We do not run third-party advertising trackers and we do not sell your data.
3. Why we use it
- To provide the service. Saving and displaying the activity logs you create, syncing them across your devices, and sharing them with caregivers you authorize.
- To power AI features.Transcribing voice entries, parsing them into structured activities, and answering your questions about your child's data through Ask Storkie.
- To keep the service running. Diagnosing errors, preventing abuse, and maintaining security and reliability.
- To communicate with you. Sending essential account, security, and product notices.
4. Who we share data with
We rely on a small number of vetted service providers to run Storkie. They each act as data processors on our behalf, are bound by their own privacy and security commitments, and only receive the data they need to provide their service.
- Clerk — authentication and account management.
- Supabase — managed PostgreSQL database (your activity logs and child profiles) and object storage (any photos you upload).
- Vercel — application hosting and edge delivery (United States).
- OpenAI — speech-to-text (Whisper), structured activity parsing, and Ask Storkie chat responses. Audio and text submitted to AI features is transmitted to OpenAI for processing.
- Sentry — error and performance monitoring so we can find and fix bugs.
We do not sell your data, and we do not share it with advertisers or data brokers. If we ever need to add or change a processor, we will update this list.
5. Children's data
Storkie is built for adults — parents and legal guardians — to log information about the children in their care. We do not market the service to children, and children do not directly create or operate Storkie accounts.
Because the data subjects are children, we are mindful of laws that give them additional protection, including the U.S. Children's Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA) and the GDPR's rules on children's data (often called “GDPR-K”). The account holder is the parent or guardian, and the parent or guardian has full control over the data — they can view, export, correct, or delete it from the app's Settings.
If you believe a child's information has been added to Storkie without proper authorization, please contact us at the address below so we can investigate and remove it.
6. How long we keep it
We keep your account, child profile, and activity data for as long as your account remains active so the app works as you expect. When you delete an activity entry, it is soft-deleted and removed from your views immediately; we retain a short recoverable copy to support undo and integrity checks, after which it is purged.
When you delete your account, we hard-delete your account, child profiles, activity entries, and photos from our production database and storage. Backups roll off on their normal cycle. Some operational records (e.g. de-identified error logs, security audit traces) may persist for a limited period as required for legitimate operational purposes.
7. Your rights
You can exercise the following rights at any time, directly from your account Settings or by emailing us:
- Access. Review the data we hold about you and your children inside the app.
- Export. Download a copy of your data as JSON via Settings.
- Correction. Edit any activity entry or profile field at any time.
- Deletion. Delete individual entries, a child profile, or your entire account from Settings.
- Withdraw consent.Disable optional features (e.g. AI assistant, voice logging) and remove caregivers' access.
Depending on where you live, you may also have additional rights under laws such as the GDPR, UK GDPR, or California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA). We will honor valid requests to exercise those rights.
8. Security & transfers
Storkie data is encrypted in transit (HTTPS) and at rest in our database and storage provider. Access to production data is limited to authorized maintainers and gated by row-level security policies that scope every read and write to your account and to the children you own or have been granted access to.
At this stage, Storkie does not use end-to-end encryption. Your activity data, photos, and AI inputs are stored server-side and are technically accessible to Storkie maintainers in the course of operating, debugging, and securing the service. End-to-end encryption is on our longer-term roadmap, and we will update this policy if and when it ships.
Our hosting and storage providers are located in the United States. If you access Storkie from outside the United States, your data will be transferred to and processed there. Where required, we rely on standard contractual mechanisms offered by our processors to legitimize those transfers.
9. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy as Storkie evolves. When we make a material change, we will update the “Effective Date” at the top of this page and, where appropriate, notify you in the app or by email. Continuing to use Storkie after the change takes effect means you accept the updated policy.
